DESCRIPTION
Safety lock.
Technical field
The present invention relates to a safety closure for a bottle with a neck that ends with an opening around which an annular edge is formed that protrudes outward and defines a radial stop opposite the opening.
Prior art
A safety closure may comprise a pouring body, which has a flange, a cap in the form of a capsule, which is connected by means of a weakened area to one end of a tubular sleeve having a predetermined inner diameter D and a thickness S wall, the other end being open, threads for connecting the cap in the form of a capsule with the pouring body, a first annular projection projecting radially out of the inner wall of the sleeve and is located axially above the flange, a second annular projection projecting radially out of the inner wall of the sleeve for a length T, and is located axially between the open end and the weakened area, the second projection defining a circular passage having a predetermined diameter D1, a tubular insert for retain the safety closure in the bottle, the insert being located inside the sleeve and presenting, in the longitudinal section of its wall , an essentially C-shaped part, with a core and two wings, the two wings being designed to engage with the flange of the pouring body and with the stop of the bottleneck respectively, the tubular insert also presenting a part that extends axially in which, at least at a free open end thereof, it has a predetermined outer diameter D2 that is larger than D1, the free open end being axially coupled against the second annular shoulder of the tubular sleeve.
Safety closures such as the one defined above are known in the art, an example of which is described and illustrated in GB 2 302 867.
Despite its satisfactory resistance against attempts to tear off the closure and remove it from the bottleneck, some of these closures were found to have an insert

inherently weak, which is usually made of polycarbonate and is placed between the outer surface of the bottleneck and the tubular sleeve connected to the capsule cap.
As this insert is designed to exert most of the action against the removal of the global closure, any weakening of its structure, for example due to defects or cracks, even microscopic, in the wall of the tubular insert can have fatal effects and allow the Start the bottleneck closure and, especially for bottles containing valuable liquors, replace the contents of the bottle with some other low quality content.
The possibility that defects or cracks in the insert may occur, which, as mentioned above, is usually made of a plastic material, is considered to be associated with the closure assembly procedure, during which the insert is fitted. axially inside the sleeve from the open end thereof and is pushed towards the capsule cap at high speed.
During its axial engagement movement, the tubular insert must move beyond the second inner boss of the sleeve against which, once the positioning is complete, the free end of the insert will be axially seated, and this will occur with the elastic deformation of the tubular insert , which will first shrink radially to be able to pass through the opening defined by the second projection of the sleeve and then expand radially so that the free edge of the tubular insert is brought to axial interference with the second projection mentioned above.
While the tubular sleeve and the insert can be sized to maintain the deformations mentioned above, required to mount the closure, within the elastic range of the material selected for the tubular insert, it is practically impossible to avoid the formation of cracks in the insert material, which will therefore weaken the structure of the closure and cause the risk that the closure can be torn from the bottleneck.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to obviate the aforementioned drawback by ensuring that the procedure for mounting the closure, and particularly the procedure for mounting the tubular insert, will imply a reduced measure of elastic deformation, and that the formation of cracks will be avoided in the insert, or so

less the risk of cracks will be considerably reduced, without affecting the effectiveness of the anti-start action that will be exerted by the insert on the closure when it is placed inside the closure.
Summary of the invention
As will be better explained hereinafter, these and other objects are achieved by a security lock as defined in claim 1.

Description of embodiments
Referring to the aforementioned figures, the safety closure of the present invention comprises a pouring body 1, which has a flange 2, a cap 3 in the form of a capsule, which is connected by means of a weakened area 4 to a end 5 of a tubular sleeve 6.
The tubular sleeve 6 has an inner diameter D and a wall having a thickness S, both having predetermined values according to the size of the bottle that is designed to be equipped with the closure.
The other end 7 of the tubular sleeve 6 is open.
Threads 8, as well as threads 9 that mate therewith, are designed to reversibly connect the cover 3 in the form of a capsule with the pouring body 1.
A lid cover 10 is fitted on the capsule lid 3, with conventional axial ribs 11, 11a interposed therebetween to ensure that no angular movement of the lid cover 10 is transferred to the underlying lid 3.
A first annular projection 12 is formed within the tubular sleeve 6, to project radially out of the inner wall 13 of the tubular sleeve 6 in a position that axially covers the flange 2 of the pouring body 1, when the closure is mounted and fits on the neck 14 of a bottle, schematically referenced as 15, with the interposition of sealing means, generally referenced as 16 therein, in Figure 1.
A second annular projection 17, projecting radially out of the inner wall 13 of the tubular sleeve 6 by a length T, is formed in an axial position between the open end 7 and the weakened zone 4.
The second annular projection 17 defines a circular passage having a predetermined diameter D1.
The closure also comprises a tubular insert, referenced as 18, to hold the safety closure on the neck 14 of the bottle and prevent its withdrawal in the event of an attempted handling.
5 The tubular insert 18 is located inside the tubular sleeve 5 and has, in the longitudinal section of its wall, an essentially C-shaped part, with a core 19 and two wings 20 and 21. The C-shaped wing 20 of the Insert 18 is attached to the flange 2 of the pouring body and is connected thereto to form a single body, whereby the insert 18 and the pouring body 1 are made of the same material. The wing 21 is 10 designed to engage with the stop 22 of the neck 14 of the bottle 15.
The tubular insert 18 also has a radially extending part 23 which, at least at its free open end 24, has a predetermined outside diameter D2 greater than D1.
fifteen
When the closure is mounted, the end 24 is designed to engage axially against the second annular shoulder 17 of the tubular sleeve 6. The free end 24 of the extending part 23 is preferably crenellated by the presence of teeth 29 distributed at regular intervals to stably tie the free end 20 24 in the second annular projection 17.
According to the invention, the tubular sleeve 6 comprises an annular recess 25 which extends radially inside the thickness S of its wall to a depth P.
25 The recess 25 also extends axially at least to a length L from the second annular projection 17 of the tubular sleeve 6 towards the weakened zone 4 that connects the tubular sleeve 6 to the capsule cover 9.
According to the invention, due to the presence of the annular recess 25 in the wall of the tubular sleeve 6 30, immediately upstream of the projection 17, the value of the diameter D1 can be increased, and therefore the passage opening for the insert 18 can be enlarged, while the protuberant length T of the projection 17 can be kept substantially unchanged.
Advantageously, the enlargement of the passage opening can limit the elastic deformations of the insert 18 when the latter is mounted, with the pouring body 1, inside the tubular sleeve 6.
The increase in diameter D1, obtained by reducing the protuberance of the second projection 17 outside the wall of the tubular sleeve 6, is compensated by the provision of a substantially corresponding depth P of the recess 25, which will ensure a substantially invariable protruding length T of the recess 17 against which the end 24 of the insert 18 is designed to abut, with a diameter D2 that must be 10 greater than D1.
According to a construction example, the closure was formed with a tubular sleeve 6 having a diameter D of 30.50 mm, the passage opening for the insert 18, defined by the profile of the second annular projection 17 protruding inside the Tubular sleeve 6 15 was formed with a diameter D1 of 29.50 mm for an insert 18 having a diameter D2 of 31.60 mm.
The recess 25 was formed with a radial depth P, from the inner wall 13 of the tubular sleeve 6, of 0.15 mm, and an axial length L of 2 mm.
twenty
Figure 5 shows the interference of the insert 18 with the wall of the tubular sleeve 6 which, in this construction example, is 0.40 mm. Without the recess 25, and with the other closing construction parameters confirmed, such interference would have been 0.55 mm. Therefore, the recess authorizes an increase in the value of the diameter D1, and therefore an enlargement of the passage opening for the insert 18, while the inner diameter D and the thickness S of the sleeve 6, and therefore the outer diameter of sleeve 6, will remain unchanged. This possibility is of critical importance when the closure is intended to be used in the same bottle in which cracks occur, that is, when the profile of the closure and bottle assembly has to remain unchanged.
